The Asian Water Polo Champions League (AWPCL) is a ground-breaking initiative aimed at promoting and elevating water polo as a premier sport in the Asia Pacific.
Wood Nest Sports (WNS), the global powerhouse behind the successful sponsorship of the LEN Champions League water polo, recently announced a landmark deal with delivery partner Fremantle Water Polo (FWP) as the naming rights sponsor to develop the new competition. The partners intend to build a sustainable, club-based competition across the Asia Pacific – emulating the quality of European club-based competition in the Asian context.
The AWPCL is a regional competition uniting the Asia Pacific region’s top clubs from across Asia, Australia and Oceania. Planned to launch in 2027, the competition is based on developing three regional super leagues, with progression through preliminary rounds to the Champions League finals tournament.
The AWPCL will enhance the overall quality and competitiveness of water polo across the Asia Pacific region (clubs and national programs) through consistent, high-level, international, club-based competition - providing opportunities for talent development and professional growth of athletes, coaches and officials across the Asia Pacific region.
